And isn't a person who hurts themself some kind of mental illness too?

I can remember when smoking was allowed in hospitals and nurses were the worst offenders.

I shared a room with three other guys. There was an old guy that smoked a pipe. It was really disgusting. I told the nurses that he was going to set himself on fire so they confiscated his pipe.

Not sure, but I am acquainted with a lifelong smoker who had throat cancer, went through the entire radiation process, beat it, got Providence to forgive the entire $250K+ billing, and less than a year later she's back to smoking. That is messed up.
