Do you have any cavities filled?

I am really upset. I don't know if I have EVER had any cavities, and the dentist says I need two filled. I floss every day (I thought thoroughly) and brush twice, and now I have TWO cavities at once? wtf.. and three other teeth they said need to be watched just in case... what the heck.

Cavities aren’t always just a result of lack of cleaning or bad diet. Those are just the main causes. Dry mouth can also cause it, which is more common in smokers or people who vape. And less common causes can be you’ve been making out with someone who has cavities - the bacteria can spread to your teeth.


I’ve had a few fillings as a teen, but nothing since then. Severe depression caused me to stop taking care of my teeth for years and I only started caring about my oral hygiene again when I turned 20.

Cavities have less to do with flossing and brushing and more to do with just straight up eating. Our teeth are our weakest bones and they’re constantly exposed to the elements. You’re not immune to cavities just by brushing and flossing, everyone gets one eventually but you get them more often when consuming high amounts of sugar and acid, which can be things like candy, desserts, sodas, but also a lot of fruits and veggies

Yes quite a few I had a fairly bad crash while mountain biking, slammed my teeth together, the word ouch some to mind lol.

Just gotta make sure to use anticavity toothpaste. Especially 40mins after eating anything sweet.

Check you pH every day and make sure it's alkaline. Sugar doesn't cause cavities, acid does. Fillings are no big deal, they have very advanced materials now that make the tooth stronger.

Gum swelling could lead to cavities. A dental hygienist told me my gums improved a lot when I got a physical job cause I did cardio by standing and walking all day at work and that changed my body chemistry.

Of course I do. My wisdom teeth were terrible. I even had a root canal done.
