Biggest thing is calorie deficit.
But I picked up on patterns of eating for satiety. I noticed that I don't have to eat much food in the morning to be satiated. I used to intermittent fast too but now Ideally I prefer to do lower carb higher fat & protein in the morning time. 200-400cals. Didn't realize it before, but this makes so that I can have better regulated blood sugar levels. Then in the evening, I liked to have a post workout meal that is pretty strict. Low fat with healthy carbs & ofc protein. 200-400cals. Then for dinner I can go crazy & eat my highest calorie meal. I notice that I prefer to eat above 1,000cals for my last meal. Ideally really high in fats as well. This makes me very satiated even when eating in deficits. Can't go wrong with incorporating artificial sugars too. I noticed that at my leanest, I would consume more of those.
I have been chubby like around 7 kg above my average.
I remember that back then I only ate once per day but bigger amounts and it didn't help. What helped was mini meals through out the entire day (snacks included) exercise (cardio) and walking. I have remained in the weight I am in right now for years and it has been working for me to maintain it even though I don't eat healthy (I eat sugary stuff and other unhealthy things), however I manage to burn those.
I have also been very underweight too the issue was that I ate normal portions, but I exercised way too much.
Well, for me I got divorced and was still very much in love with my husband when he took off very unexpectedly.
I stopped eating all together and just drank glasses of whole milk. I did that for three months and went from 132 lbs down to 96 lbs and never gained it back again until many years later.

I started eating healthy, exercised and lots of water. The weight just fell off.
