Absolutely, I've actually organized blood drives. There have been major catastrophic events that have happened and blood types were getting low at hospitals. I can think of one plane crash in particular that happened in Iowa and they actually ran out of certain blood types and were begging people on TV and radio to go to the hospital and donate. Over THREE THOUSAND people showed up in a 24 hr period! There were major blood shortages on 911 also. DONATE! You will save a life.
