My blood sugar level is under 200. According to my research online you have to be 200 and above to be considered diabetic. But according to my doctor, I'm diabetic. Was I lied to or I'm I not understanding something here. I'm low on iron and I have sleep apnea and supposedly that can cause a false high reading on A1c. Should I get a 2nd opinion?

It is probably so close that you are, plus if you have other signs, or it was after fasting for 24 hours, or you are overweight/obese, and possibly prediabetic.
Ask your doctor for a clarification, and for type 2 you can reverse it by eating better and more exercise and losing weight.
I wasn't fasting but I had only eaten once the day before I had blood drawn. I am overweight but my friends dad is diabetic and he told me 200 and above is considered diabetic, I looked it up and Google told me the same. My blood sugar was under 200 however my A1c was at 6.6 which supposedly means diabetes but I'm also iron deficient and I have sleep apnea which is said to cause false high readings which is why I'm thinking of getting a 2nd opinion. I'm also coping here cause I'm honestly scared, don't want to be diabetic. Wether I am or not though, I definitely learned my lesson and I'm going to take my health more seriously.
It is best to find out, so do not put off going to the doctor to fine out.
Sure no one wakes up and thinks gee I would like to be diabetic, however it is very treatable and manageable.
If not properly taken care of it, you can develop long term health issues and possibly shorten your live span.
So, for your sake get checked out and hopefully you will be on your way to a long and healthy lifestyle.
Thank you.
Diabetes is 2 separate readings over 126 while fasting. 200 is high even for a diabetic.
I wasn't fasting but on my results they have it done as I was fasting
200, here it's 20
