Oh NO! Say it ain't so! I don't want to grow a long, pointed snout, a squeaky nose, big ears, fur all over and whiskers.
I hope they're working on a new, miracle, gene therapy vaccine.
While they're at it, they should prepare for the jack rabbit, squirrel, coyote, possum, raccoon, prairie dog, field mouse and vole epidemics, too.
by the way, this was really funny "Scientists say if there's anywhere a virus could easily jump the species barrier it's Alabama. Once in the population, Alabama's relatively small gene pool would facilitate it's spread risking transmission to more important states." ROFL
The mere fact of being born in this world involves we will die some day. Life is anyway a risky event I daresay, and living in constant fear because of some possible epidemic seems rather silly and useless to me, considering we would spoil our whole life at every moment, instead of enjoying the nice moments. Let's just tackle the problems one at a time when they occur, and not bother too much about what could happen if this or that happened or could occur. "Carpe diem".
Let's keep in mind, by the way, that frightening citizens is a way to have them doing whatever manipulators want. Let's also keep in mind that there have been plenty of different kinds of diseases since the dawn of times, and yet we're here...
? Haven’t heard of it yet. Will do research. Nobody is ready for an actual, honest epidemic. Covid was and is just a nasty flu that still kills fewer people each year than pollution related illnesses, the yearly influenza or pneumonia outbreaks, pollution and toxin related cancers, or alcoholism, but the government isn’t doing crap all about the toxins big corporations put in our air, food, water, and soils or about alcohol.
nope... there are plenty of other viruses just waiting for their turn... I have no control over it, so worrying about it doesn't make much sense... I enjoy the sunny day!

No, it sounds like more panic porn now that there is not going to be a tariff war that will decimate out economy and put everyone in bankruptcy., They pick on Alabama because it is a Red state with not many illegal aliens. The fake news has conveniently ignored the outbreaks of Polio, Leprosy, Malaria, Tuberculosis, and other diseases that have been not seen in the US for decades because it is obvious they have been introduced into the US by illegal aliens that had been allowed into the US without any sort of physical exam.
Epidemics have always occured. We had the COVID pandemic and, although it never went away completely, we're still here. Viruses have a tendency to evolve from being extremely virulent and killing the host, to less virulent so it can spread more easily, thereby minimizing the effect on the host (i. e. us or an animal transmitter).
Is should be OK; but can spread easily if the necessary factors are in place.
I have no Alabamian genetics in me.
Nor do I generally seek the company of Alabamesians.
Further, I reside at a place that's reasonably far from Americanesians in general - and Alabamesians in specifical.
The last epidemic (which was a pan-panic, actually) did not reach me either.
Me being scared?
Kind of, only: some clowns may use the opportunity for creating one other shut down. Which may affect my beer supply options.
Food availability around humans attracts wild animals, this increases infection and mutation risk.
Never ending airport traffic in Wuhan while corona outbreak showed we have zero chances if a deadly virus appears that is very infectious, spreads over air and doesn't kill too fast. The question isn't if but when.
Baby, I come from a slave state. If there's any viruses around here, all we need to do is pray to Jesus and he will bring us a vaccine.
As a side note, the black folks will be like "Damn that white is tryin' to put his microchips in me again."
Nope not worried. I am comfortably 15,000 KM from Alabama which is not far off half the earths circumference of 20,000 KM. Possibly hard to find a more distant dry spot unless you are on a ship in the Indian ocean.
There is an Australia island - Christmas island - which is 17,000 KM distant. I am not tempted to go there and wait it out because Christmas Island has the vector - shrews - whereas the rest of Australia doesn't.
"Scientists say if there's anywhere a virus could easily jump the species barrier it's Alabama. Once in the population, Alabama's relatively small gene pool would facilitate it's spread. . ." Can you cite a reputable news source for that assertion?
Yeah, I didn't think so.
No, I'm not scared. Mother Nature rules and there's not much we can do about it. If we could just remember that, life would be better for all of us.
Could Scotland export some cats to eradicate the problem?
Squeaky nose? Does it turn young women into old shrews? Thankfully, shrews have pretty short life spans. They are mostly always eating to service their super high metabolism. If they go for a couple days without food they give up the ghost.
I have enough other stuff to worry about. I'm not going to worry about some virus
When I first read "Alabama epidemic" I thought you were going to talk about incest.
I'm not worried about this.
oh a new virus and they're already raising pandemic fears? so they're jumping straight to pandemic with every new virus huh, this is definitely scripted,
Is that a mole? Um.. not yet and that sounds like racist.
I've driven through Alabama, I liked what I saw.
How does a human even come in contact with a shrew? I've seen maybe two in my lifetime. The little suckers are pretty secretive.
let's go!!! maybe we could buy them some tickets to china and return the favor?
My maternal grandmother was from Tuscaloosa, Ala., and while she wasn't like this, the three major Alabama epidemics are religious fundamentalism, racism and stupidity !!!
I don’t live in Alabama I never heard of it
It's a state just south of Tennessee
those things are so ugly and cute all at the same time
Of course, it's alabama. Of course they would have something like this
Stfu. All of our states are important. @purplepoppy you wanna know what’s NOT important? The UK. Who gives a fuck about the UK?
"more important states" wow.
Alabama is not important?
No just leave the US on the first plane
