Excess belly fat eventually causes the pelvis and lower back to slant forward. This creates a permanent and round arch in the back, which causes back pain. The strongest muscles are in the back. However, there is only so much they can handle.

Yes, excessive belly fat can significantly contribute to back pain, as the added weight around the abdomen puts extra strain on the muscles and ligaments of the lower back, often causing the pelvis to tilt forward and leading to poor posture, which can result in discomfort and pain.
Key points about belly fat and back pain:
    Mechanical stress:
Excess abdominal fat can physically pull on the spine, causing an increased inward curve (lordosis) in the lower back, putting pressure on the discs and nerves.
    Posture imbalance:
A large belly can disrupt your natural posture, leading to a swayback which strains the back muscles.
    Increased risk of disc issues:
The added pressure from belly fat can contribute to herniated discs, further aggravating back pain.

What can you do about it?
    Weight loss:
Losing even a moderate amount of belly fat can significantly reduce back pain.
    Core strengthening exercises:
Strengthening the abdominal muscles can help support the spine and improve posture.
    Proper posture awareness:
Practice mindful posture throughout the day to minimize strain on your back.

Will losing belly fat help back pain?

Dropping just a few pounds can make a big difference to your back. If you are heavier than your ideal weight, your muscles will need to work harder to perform everyday tasks. By losing weight, you are reducing the strain on your back, including the muscles, ligaments and discs.

Excessive belly fat can cause stress on the spine and back muscles, the more belly fat there is, the more stress on the back there is.

Carrying any extra weight on your front can cause issues. I carry 30lbs around every day, and it messes with my back. At one point it was 40Ibs, and I thought about having surgery.

It definitely could. Your back is pretty much carrying your weight which includes your belly fat.

Probably... you have to figure that anything that screws with the weight balance of the body is going to do a number of the spine.

No. I've been skinny as a rail most of my life and have had a good bit of back trouble. If anything, being tall causes it.

I think every big boy gets back pain, including my six-three,275-pound best bud Jamie Logsdon, who'll be 69, appropriately, Mar.14, or PI Day !!!
