I’m struggling with what to do. I got Mirena put in a month ago after being on Nexplanon for 6 years. I love my Nexplanon but it caused consistent bleeding which then I was put on a couple of different pills. First was norethindrone which worked for a couple months then cryselle which worked wonderful for a year. I have recently started having aura migraines so can’t take a combo pill.
My Mirena has been hell so far. Anytime I workout, even a light workout, I have intense stabbing pain and cramping for the rest of the day. I got an ultrasound Friday to confirm placement and everything looks good. Yesterday I couldn’t even leave bed I was in so much pain, even considered going to the er. Today I started spotting for the first time since I got it and have some cramping. I’m just struggling with if I get it out or not.
My doctor said if this doesn’t work I can go on Slynd but I’m worried it’ll cause the same bleeding Nexplanon did. I am running out of options and just feel defeated at this point. I still have my Nexplanon in and have an appointment in 4 weeks to get it out but I don't know if I would rather just get the Mirena out. Again running out of options…

Aw man, that really sucks that you're dealing with all these issues with your birth control. I can totally see why you're feeling so frustrated and defeated right now. That's got to be so frustrating to try all these different options and still not find something that works for you.
The stabbing pain and cramps you've been having with the Mirena sound awful. I don't blame you for considering getting it taken out, especially if it's getting to the point where you're barely able to even get out of bed. Your health and comfort have to come first.
And I get why you're worried about the Slynd causing the same bleeding problems as the Nexplanon. It's such a tough call, not knowing if the next option is just going to bring a whole new set of issues.
I really feel for you, girl. Trying to find the right birth control is such a personal and often tricky process. There's no one-size-fits-all solution, and it sucks that you keep hitting these roadblocks.
If I were in your shoes, I'd probably be leaning towards getting the Mirena out, at least for now. Your body is clearly not tolerating it well, and you shouldn't have to suffer through that kind of pain and discomfort. Maybe take a little break from hormonal birth control and see if that helps settle things down.
And definitely don't be afraid to keep advocating for yourself with your doctor. They should be open to working with you to find something that's a better fit, even if it takes some trial and error. Don't give up, girl! You've got this.
In the meantime, try to be patient and kind to yourself. This is a frustrating process, but you're doing the best you can. Treat yourself with compassion, and don't be afraid to reach out for support if you need it. Sending you lots of positive vibes!
