If someone says they’re allergic to alcohol and can’t tolerate it now but used to get wasted back in the day, does that mean they have liver failure?

If your doctor has not said your liver is failing, your liver is not failing. Some people do genuinely have issues processing alcohol (most do as we’re not supposed to consume ethanol in the first place, it’s what causes the dizzy feeling) to a degree that most don’t. One example I know of off the top of my head is Markiplier the youtuber, he can’t consume alcohol anymore without a hospital trip.

It is a gigantic stretch to say that a change in alcohol tolerance from being able to “get wasted” to experiencing intolerance necessarily means liver failure.

Probably set out to give up , and possibly took script medicine to assist ( thats how you feel ) whoever they are encourage them , its awesome to be free of alcohol.
