It really depends on just how bad they are. I'm not a woman, and so have never experienced a period cramp, but from the women I do know, it seems that they can vary greatly from one woman to the next.
Some women just, unfortunately, do get bad cramps naturally, but if they are really bad, and especially if they are excrutiating, then it may not be a bad idea to check with an OB/GYN, just in case.
It's probably nothing, and I don't want you to start worrying, but there are number of things that could cause bad cramps. If it's concerning you, it's always better to be safe, than sorry.

I wouldn't advise normalizing it just because it's an epidemic. If you Google or research ways to reduce it, you can and look for what works best for you. As early as your age, you can start learning basic healthly lifestyles, like exercising and diet. I'm sure that's what some doctors would say but it also requires psychological effort to get their patients to listen to that. But in the end not all doctors are the same. They're just humans who go by the book.

You're 13? If you just started menstruating then very painful periods can happen sometimes But it might be better if a doctor checked you.
