Do you think my doctor wants me to get my bloodwork done exactly 3 days before my appointment?

I had an appointment with my doctor 3 months ago. I remember her telling me to get my bloodwork done 3 days before my appointment. I called the receptionist twice, and she said to try not to get the bloodwork done less than 3 days before the appointment. Im guessing that it doesn't need to be exactly 3 days before the appointment, so long as I do it before 3 days before the appointment? I dont want to call, and ask again, because i feel like and idiot.

Hey! Nurse here! If this is just a check up or physical or something routine, then they probably want you to get your blood work done earlier that way they have time to review the results prior to your visit and can discuss them with you when you get there.

Some clinics can take a couple days to get labs back if they are not attached to a hospital or larger facility. And even if you are seeing your doctor in a clinic attached to the hospital, the inpatient labs take priority.

So yeah, it is mainly so that the labs are completed and results are back so you and your doctor can talk about them at your appointment.
