What are your thoughts about being an organ doner?

I want to be an organ doner but was advised against it. Apparently if you are in a life and death situation, and your chart shows that you are an organ doner, the medical team will do less to assist and safe your life because they can make more money off your organs. Is this really true?

‘Donor’, “doner” is what you are if they actually refuse to help. Ell oh ell!
I don’t think they ask if you’re an organ donor until they believe you’re unlikely to survive anyway. As much as i distrust modern healthcare systems, i don’t think they’re letting people die to get the organs. There are mad waiting lists for organs. About 8500 people die every day in the US. They could increase that number by about 5500 by simply failing to provide life-saving care at the right time. Depending upon the general health of those dying, blood type, et cetera, 14,000 deaths per day could make a decent dent in the organ transplant waiting lists. So i think it’s fair to assume that if that’s happening at all, it’s rare.
The scary thing is recent headlines suggest that there are people who will kill you or refuse you care if they detect that you vote differently from them. That’s way scarier than organ harvesting conspiracies, in my opinion.

That's why my sister and I tell people it is none of their business who we voted for. Sure, our loved ones know, they voted the same way. It would be different if we didn't live in states that typically go to the opposite candidate.

You don’t have to say it though. People make a lot of ignorant assumptions about you based on what you wear, how you talk, the kind of car you drive, etc.

It's not true in the U. S. Most of the time because you can't sell organs. If you're a donor, and your organs are harvested to be given to another, there's no money in it.

Hello no, I refused when I got my license. Sorry but I won’t be put on a chopping block if it’s life or death just to save someone else. If that makes me selfish so be it.

I am an organ donor but I am a little concerned that somebody will pull the plug on me and sell my liver to some rich celebrity that has ruined his with booze and dope.

I wouldn't worry, those people are pretty low on the list and organ selling/purchasing is illegal. True, you'd still be dead, but the doctor would be in jail as would the celebrity.
