Do you think if doctors were required to be paid based on how healthy their patients stayed, the whole healthcare system would change overnight?

No, because the narrative that we get paid in the US by keeping people sick is a falsehood perpetually given by people who sell quack remedies. Also the single best preventative treatment on the planet, cheap effective and undeniably good is constantly and endlessly fought by many people who think they know better. It's just one example that people just don't listen to their doctors. The eat to much drink too much engage in risky behaviors, don't take their medications, smoke have unprotected sex the lost goes on and on. There would be no doctors. Who would give their life to learning the causes of disease and illness down to the molecular level. Spend half a million dollar to learn the endless treatment, work deeply in debt for nearly free for residency of 4 to 12 years. To only have your income decided by uncle rico who drinks a liter of beer while smoking a carton of pall mall unfiltered, and refuses to vaccinated because his chiropractor with 2 years of fantasy camp told him they are bad so he will buy his useless supplement. They healthcare system would be different I'm sure. But only the super rich who pay cash would be the only ones able to afford a doctor.

@Greek_goddess_Iris No. Doctors can only do so much for a patient. The patient has to do what they are told and try to help themselves in any way they can.

We are in a health crisis in the US, with morbid obesity being epidemic, and a doctor can only do so much to change that, WITH many doctors in the same condition.

My doctor says most of his patients my age are morbidly obese, men and women alike. and he can do nothing about that but recommend diet and exercise.

If patients actually went before they were sick, that might work. My mom's job was primarily colonoscopies; she had no control over her patients' health outside of that. Why should she not get paid if her patient has a heart problem? She doesn't deal with the heart.

It's a nice thought but it don't work. As that would just make doctors not care nor get paid for looking after those who are terminally going that way.

militaries need war for profit, prisons need criminals for profit, big pharma needs sick people for profit

Yes, for the worse. Doctors wouldn't want to treat people with an uncertain or poor prognosis.
