Why do insects die if you keep your house clean for a while, do they starve from not having food to eat?

Usually it's dehydration rather than starvation for bugs but I have tropical freshwater fish as pets and once on crash lands on the surface of the Wasser someone will always jump up and eat it 😋 👌👍🐠

I think they usually starve, or they leave the house.

There's always food for insects no matter how clean your house. Most only have a short lifespan or die soon after they've laid eggs, usually on your food. A lot just snuggle up somewhere and lay dormant, often for a year. It's why I never kill spiders.
