Fitness means being healthy to me. So a good muscle to body fat ratio. What does that look like? Not sub 10% body fat, that's extreme, unsustainable, and probably not healthy.

I aim for 18-20% body fat and lean muscle without bulk. I have no use for bulk that serves no purpose than looks. Bulk slows you down, reduces your stamina, and increases the load on your heart and lungs while increasing your need for food and water without providing any benefit.

I try to balance my training with weight lifting, running, a water rower, and mountain biking. I'll do resistance training 4 days per week and usually run 7 miles 2-3 days per week. That gets every major muscle group in my body. I try to eat a well rounded diet with whole vegetables and elan protein and nuts but very little sugar. I get my sugars from fresh fruits.

I want to be able to enjoy the things I like. Skiing, running, mountain biking, hiking, backpacking, mountain climbing, body surfing, swimming, a backyard football game or volleyball. Or just zipping up a set of stairs and doing chores outside around my house.

At 70+, waking up in the morning is a big step each day. At one time, I won a presidential citation for my exercise program, and was a 14 1/2 slim. My neck is now 17 1/2 and I'm not slim, but I still mow my own yard, shovel my own driveway, most of my DIYs in the home and help a couple of widows on our block with their minor repairs. (If they need anything major, I usually help by being an "interpreter" with any contractors they find.) At the very least, a get lots of walking in just by walking up and back from their house down the block.

I am into the kind of fitness that you like to do for yourself. Its much easier to regularly do something you love instead of forcing yourself into somethihg for an abstract goal.
I think its important to at least care about the fitness and in return health of your body, but concrete results can be highly individual.

So fitness for me means to not let your body go to waste. To care about your health in a way of keeping it healthy and (yes selfexplanetory) FIT!
That means fitness is not only activity but nutrition and sleep as well.

It means taking charge of my body. Our body is on loan so I take good care of it to respect myself and the only home that I will have to live in.

Life is an endurance event---train for it.

I enjoy the chemicals that are released from exercise. My soul likes it better than being a rolly polly donut. hehe

Fitness includes the categories of cardio, muscular strength, muscular endurance, flexibility, and body composition.

Some people put more effort into some categories more than others. For example, I focus mostly on all of the above, other than flexibility (Although, I should put more effort into it. I've just never felt the need to in my younger age and as I got older, bad habits stayed with me).

Fitness is for the purpose of having your body being physically capable, longevity, and yes... even your appearance. Your body fat percentage has a direct correlation to health issues and your longevity.

Being fit doesn't mean dieting and eating healthy. It's strictly to do with your physical capability.

    Beeing strong.
Last year i worked so much, I fucked up my back and at the beginning of this year, I could really feel how week my body was and that really fucked me up mentally.
I did some rehabilitation workout thing from May to July, and then lost track of working out and since September I'm back at it again and getting my strength up again.

As a kid I was always active, as a teen I was in gymnastics and dancing, in my early 20's I was always in the gym but I haven't been that active in the last 5 years, I still did something but not enough to be honest and yeah I'm on my way back again!

To maintain a fitness standard of such a standard to prolong my good health as much as I can , maintain whole body strength and flexibility

I’m not “into” fitness though , this is what I see as maintaining a healthy body in support of my life. If I am to depend on it which I need to then it’s my responsibility to look after it.

I'm likely one of the outsiders. I actually hate fitness, but love watching fitness and sports videos, and live.

I find it fascinating that people will put themselves through pain and effort to a result they might not even reach. But watching the journey anyway is a fetish, I suppose.

fat is not tjhe benign substance that people think. When the cells metabolize nutrients they create byproducts that have toxic propeties.

Our bodies were designed to store fat for survival and build muscle for stamina for strength , fat is meant to protect our organs but too much fat and too much muscle doesn’t necessarily mean one is better than the other , society labels it that way to basically make money from people that get brainwashed into believing they need to look a certain way or be a certain way to be accepted , and they claim it’s good for your health , which is not true whatsoever , most people that dedicate their lives to fitness end up dropping dead a lot earlier than people that don’t , So it just goes to show fitness has nothing to do with our health whatsoever

My definition of fitness is pretty boring. It's mainly just the absence of sickness, disease, etc. This is because fitness is just health & physical capability. And both are very large spectrums.

If you stay active and eat healthy you don't have to waste time exerising, let alone going to a gym. We have a home gym but it rarely use it. We just don't need to.
