Why do cats meow so rarely while dogs bark so often each day?

Dogs naturally have a larger range than cats. Dogs are larger predators and they tend to move in packs over longer ranges to acquire food. Not understanding that many humans cram their dogs into quarter acre lots in the suburbs or even worse apartments. So dogs will instinctively feel that there are people and other animals in their range that threaten the pack. If you put a dog on 5 acres or more they tend to not bark very much.

a bag of chicken-flavored treats and I have 3 cats at my dad's house meowing at me constantly until I let them stuff their mouth with them... but cats aren't protecting or warning anyone... like the dog does when that evil mailman shows up...
