So they say dogs sense fear. I don't know and bumper stickers that read No fat chicks but my question is why do blind people wear dark shades?

I'm not blind, but there are three reasons that I know of.

The first being that, being blind, they are not always able to maintain eye contact, or look in an appropriate direction. Wearing dark shades solves that problem, and prevents them from appearing rude, or as if they're staring at someone, inappropriately.

The second being that, despite being blind, direct sunlight can still harm the tissue in their eyes, which can result in pain, or even damage. Wearing dark sunglasses protects them from bright light, and UV radiation, just like a sighted person.

The last reason, that I'm aware of, is to protect themselves from questions, and or ridicule. Depending on the particular cause of their impairment, their eyes may not look entirely normal. Wearing dark glasses prevents people from seeing what their eyes may actually look like.
