It seems like a lot of people just get put on them before even going through some kind of psychological therapy or counseling

Tell me about especially the religous people. Today over heard this christian couple complaining to the manager at walmart about selling Coke all because oh its demonic. You be surprised the church people are the most mentally unstable ones. I even hearba cheistian said he was being followed by demons. They see demons and devil every where 🙄

Since the pandemic there has been a massive up-tick in social anxiety, extreme FOMO, etc. And so-called doctors prescribe the drugs they're getting commissioned to push. No one cares about the human being anymore... we have to manage ourselves to ensure that we're living balanced and fruitful lives.

The other thing to remember is that healthcare companies and insurance companies really like the idea of handing people a pill and sending them on their way because it's a lot cheaper than doing what's actually needed, which is psychotherapy.

No, the thing is that the supposed chemical imbalance, or serotonin hypothesis, has been disproven fairly recently, so the whole thing is just a lie. We don't have any proof or any evidence that it even exists. Depression is fairly complicated, and the idea of "living a lifestyle that benefits one's mental health" is just too simplistic.

@msc545 Giving someone with major depression cognitive therapy is like putting a sticking plaster over a gaping wound. They're still going to die either way.

It's not quite that bad. There is a use for cognitive therapy but accompanying that there needs to be a lot of other kinds of therapy as well. A few cognitive techniques to reduce depressive thinking can be somewhat useful, but if that's all you do, that's not enough.

Keep in mind that psychotherapy is extremely expensive because it takes a very long time for people to learn how to do it, and that learning itself is extremely expensive. A typical psychotherapy session is anywhere from $200 to $400 an hour.

Go to most physicians, tell them about a problem you have, and if there's a medication they can prescribe for it, you're gonna get a prescription.

My ex-fiance he is a devoted christian his father is a pastors. Now my ex-fiance to theblogical reason is he was going crazy I move away to a diffrent state my exfiance at the time claim to see me at his apartment which was impossible I return back to my hometown.

A mutual friend told me this that he was lost his mind or he was drunk but he kept seeing me that I kept telling him Remember what you did to me? Later his father went all crazy yelling live in Jesus name of something like that.

Wow looks like he still was not over me even dough my ex was the that left me in the church altar. Weird. Yeah the dude had mental problems that is the logical reason.

I’d love to know the answer to this. I’m curious.
I would never take antidepressants because I think they don’t deal with the root of the problem, they just mask the problem. So why do so many people choose to get bogged down on tablets thinking it’s the answer to their problems?

Over medication is a serious problem. I think part of the issue is the pharmaceutical lobby and their truly obnoxious ad campaigns.

Isn't therapy really expensive? A lot of people are saying cognitive therapy should be the first treatment option but traditionally that hasn't been the case. And if your condition is so severe that you've acutally sought professional help therapy is probably too slow.
