Why do doctors falsely believe some of their patients are retarded?

They believe that they are retarded so much that they refuse to talk to them and make them seem like they can’t function when they can. What legal action can they face for slandering the patient? They call them mentally challenged when they are not.

Because they have spent years studying and have a great deal of experience on top of that dealing with patients. It isn't exactly hard to spot when people aren't fully functioning upstairs by the way they're able to communicate or understand concepts.
