Can spicy food make coughing, chest pain, or throat inflammation worse?

My parents and I have been having coughing issues, chest pain, as well as low energy levels and forgetfulness this week, and I today I had spicy tofu for dinner and I coughed so hard afterwards that, I needed immediate healing aids, so I took 2 tablespoons of honey to get rid of my coughing. I have been using honey and ginger to control my chest pain because the pain is so strange it makes me think I could be at risk of emergency care if I do not take herbs and honey for healing.
