What would you do in this situation? How would you juggle your own well-being and a family member crisis?

So, let's say you have a family that had shown a great deal of paranoia. They believe there is a giant conspiracy to put them in prison. The story has different variations but ultimately always include dirty cops planting evidence, vindictive neighbors with lots of power, people following them everywhere etc. Things you'd see in movies 🤷‍♂️

It gets bad enough that this family member drives complicated routes to work, hides their face with a hood in public, cleans the garbage through the sink with clorox and soap to remove their finger prints, among many other senseless things. It controls how they see everything; always expecting betrayal, misreading things etc.

You know there is no massive conspiracy against them, and that their delusions are impacting everyone. It's taking lots of financial support to keep them afloat and even more mental power to keep them guided on a constructive path.

Let's say you've already lost many years of your life supporting them, guiding them, organizing things for them, helping them financially etc.

It ended up destroying your life, because you spent so many years dealing with it, caretaking for another family member, working a mentally exhausting job, while never living for yourself. Due to it, you had a horrific collapse that saw you put into a facility, on meds, and a complete loss of well being (job, home, etc).

Now, you are stuck trying to rebuild your life with the only connection you have left; the family member that is extremely paranoid.

What do you do?
