Equestrian sports are definitely sports. Horses can be dangerous animals if you don't handle them properly and even when you know what you are doing you will most likely get hurt occasionally.People that say horseback riding isn't a sport obviously have never done it or have never been riding other than a pony ride.

Of course it's a sport.

I rode horses for years and entered into shows. It's physically demanding on the horse AND the rider. I was in the best shape of my life when I rode horses.

Most definitely, horses are not that easy to handle - I have 3 - so if you can handle your horses right and connect with them and move together, then it isn't just a sport, but an art.

i think it is. jockeys have to work out a lot. the ideal weight is just way down there for a jockey. also controlling a horse takes strength and muscle. so yeah- I think it is.

I took riding lessons for about 8 years (hunter-jumper) and did some shows.. Love watching it in the Olympics as well, so yes I consider it a sport. (:

It's an organised activity with events and tournaments. Think that more or less classes it as a sport.

Games are not the same as sports. There are world chess / scrabble / darts championships, but those aren't sports.

It's a sport, but more for the horses. Also I don't like people forcing animals to do sh*t.

It's a horsey-sport, in much the same way that Formula one is a motor-sport ...so not really.

The way I judge if something is a real sport, is this - If someone is among the best in the world at a real sport, that means they can be considered an elite athlete.

So, you just have to look at the competitors to judge whether something is a real sport, or merely a game.

eg. Darts link and Golf link are NOT real sports.
