Are girls supposed to smell bad when they're on their periods?

I mean not like immediately after showering but is it normal to have menstrual odor or does that mean somethings wrong?

Because I've had menstrual odor ever since I first started my period at 12. So I always thought it was normal, I keep reading on the internet that there's not supposed to be an odor.

first things first..it is 100 percent natural for ALL women..starting from puberty onward..to have a smell from her vagina..whether she is on her period..15 years old or 40 years old..EVERY single woman will have her own smell..period..theres no escaping this..any girl who denies this is either lying or too embarrassed to talk about it..i have been with ALOTTT of girls..and every single one had a smell..sometimes strong,sometimes I could barely smell it..

a girls smell will change according to time of the month...her hormones,age..weighth..whether she peed a lot that day..whether she's showered..if she's been sweating alot..if that day was hot..

the smell will obviosly be stronger if its the end of a long day,and the girl was out wlaking in the sun dall day wearing tighth jeans..

the smell will be stronger if her vagina has been more sweaty/humid/hot..or peeing a lot lately..girls in hot areas will have stronger smell than girls in colder areas..also if she wears tighth clothes..its also MUCH stronger if she got "Wet" that day.or having sex..this is the "sex smell"...

it usually is strongest at the end of the day if you don't shower..trust me I live in a apartment with my gf..i know from experience..

girls will usually have a slight fishy smell..maybe a sligth pee smell..or sweat..this cna be strong or weak..depends on the girl..

during her period..girls smell much stronger..due to the blood oxidising out of er body..the iron..etc..so yes its VERY natural for a girl to smell much stronger during her period..

Thanks for informing me because sometimes I think girls withhold information because it's too embarrassing to talk about and stuff. You're lucky you don't have to deal with all of this weird bodily stuff.

aww no sweety..you should be happy your a girl and happy you go through periods..coming from a guy,its NOT gross or anything..its a beautiful and natural part of girls..every single girl goes through it..i literally go out and by my girlfriend her tampons every month sweety..its not a big deal lol

Menstrual odor should be normal... the blood will have a smell! But the odor shouldn't be so strong that other people can smell it. Also, pads already have smells of their own, so when mixed with period blood, the smell could be less attractive. Obviously, when on your period, you should wash your vagina daily to prevent bacteria, irritation, and of course, smell.

Is it like an iron-like smell? What does it smell like? If you bathe regularly and wash up constantly when you have your period especially if its heavy then the smell should not be noticeable unless you intentionally try to smell it of course.

I can't describe it because I don't know anything that smells like it but it's definitely not a pleasant smell. It is rather stinky I guess. I don't know what iron smells like but it doesn't smell metallic to me. It's only noticeable when I'm on my period, like later on in the day when I change my pad (for some reason I can't smell it the first couple of times I change my pad during the day). Also it smells stronger at the end of my period.

Its normal. You could just be giving off a smell more than other girls. Make sure you change your pad constantly, the pad can add onto the smell as well. And always wash a lot more when you have your period.

no there is an odor but it shouldn't be so strong that it hits people like perfume, basically you should only smell it when your panties are down

Yeah that's how it is for me unless I don't take a shower or like sometimes I can smell it in morning because I don't wake up in the middle of the night to change my pad. Is that normal?

There is no need to wake up in the middle of the night to change your pad. There are pads in the stores which are specially designed for night time - they are very large and long and should last you for the whole night.
