I would recommend getting whatever you like, but carbonated mixed drinks will get to you faster than noncarbonated. Definitely ask the bartender to "short pour" your drink. Short pour refers to putting less than the correct amount in your drink. Bartenders love being able to do that, and using that term shows you know whatsup.
I don't know if you already have plans for after, like dinner, but try to eat a little something beforehand (I'm sure you know this)... something that is slow to digest and stays in your tummy awhile. The food will slow the time the alcohol enters your bloodstream.
As far as what drinks might be good to try: vodka and cranberry is easy to drink. The bartender will ask what kind of vodka and since you're asking for a short pour just get the house vodka it's cheaper. Sombrero's are always yummy. That's kahlua and cream, like a chocolate milk. It's definitely not low cal, but very little alcohol. Another one that doesn't have a lot of alcohol is a midori sour. It has a little sprite in it, but the alcohol is a liqueur so less potency - and it's melon flavored.
Also, you already know this, but if you hit it off and decide to have drinks longer... feel completely okay ordering water in between drinks. If someone starts to give you crap, tell them your pacing yourself, because of whatever - your driving, you need your wits about you with this guy your talking too... Make it a joke. Hope you have fun.

Umm... just ask the bartner or the person that works there about something that's not strong. good luck on whatever you do.
Why get something with alcohol if you don't drink? Just get a coke.

maybe you could get one drink (with a very little amount of alchohol in it- look up online which ones are safest) but only have an alcoholic drink if that's what you want. then after that you could have fun drinks that don't have alchohol- like shirley temples (my personal fave)
