Long eye contact with professor

I'm probably reading into this wayyyy too much.

Anyways, I'm one of the few girls in my class and the professor likes to look at some of us individually while he's talking. I notice that if he catches my gaze he'll either

a) skim over me really quickly until he finds the next available guy sitting beside me who's paying attention or

b) have a staring contest, which lasts about 3 painfully long seconds

Is he just finding people in the audience to engage, or does he see me differently?

(Wow, that was a ditzy question. Now I'm going to feel like a socially retarded dork for the rest of the week.)

It seems like you are reading into it too much. Professors usually look at people in the eyes when they lecture--it's a very important public speaking skill. More than likely, he's just finding people to look at to make sure he has their attention. He looks at other students in the eyes too, right?

I know the feeling! But I would not jump to conclusions based on this because this sounds like something most people do when they stare at someone and that person meets their gaze, which is kind of an awkward situation. :)
