I think Google is going a bit far with documenting everyone's life, their habits, etc. They're in the business of profiling everyone now so they can sell personal information about you to every company imaginable... Their getting a little out of control with Google chrome, the phone camera game that convinces everyone to go around like spies to take pictures of crap for them so that the world can see it on Google maps, and no they probably want to take the next leap with video on this one.
Nope, I'm just aware of what they are doing... IT makes sense from a marketing perspective to get the most information about a person to target market to them. That's what they are in the business of doing. I just think they are getting a little crazy with the amount of crap they are documenting on people and don't like their deal with the NSA. Perhaps you are comfortable with all your information being all over the place. I'm sure someone will be comfortable using it against you as well. Cheers
Ya I love when people are like "ZOMG GOOGLE CHROME IS THE BEST!" and they have no idea how much it truly spies on them and gets invasive in their lives. Sadly, corporations in general don't give a sh*t about privacy and happily invade the lives of others and our government does nothing because they're in bed with the corporations and want to spy on us too... arg.
You should try reading the EULA for chrome sometime... It says anything you upload using their browser becomes their property. So that manuscript you've been working for 10 years or that book you'd like to publish. Email it to your editor using chrome and now Google owns the rights... That cool drawing you spent 2 weeks on, upload it on the internet and now it belongs to Google. That program you write that going to make you a million dollars
Generally yes... They have applied these types of rules to all their services and products. I understand trying to protect yourself as a company, but that should come more in the form of wording such as we can not be held liable, or you surrender your right to bring suite against us, not in the form of we own all your stuff now... Google started from humble beginnings, but they are rapidly becoming the definition of a big evil corporation. It got to make you wounder why they would put such
Actually, QA, Apple does spy on you a TON with safari. FF and Opera don't spy on you as much. If you have an apple computer, using a browser called "stainless" is a great one too. It's way faster than the others (a lot of crap cut out compared to other browsers) and it won't spy on you.
The good news, aMuse, is that ToS and EULAs are CONSTANTLY thrown out of courts of law. So there is a good bet you can win against Google there, but it really should be addressed properly and force them (and every other company) to remove such disgusting policies.
Actually I use a PC laptop but I stuck to Safari because my home computer used to be a mac and I really loved the browser. Safari's quite cut out too, there are no useless add-ons, banners, pop-ups and so on compared to Opera and FF. Nothing more than what I really need. I must admit I like the design and browsing experience. But, I don't quite get what the way Apple can spy on me with the browser is.
Is this the Occulus Rift? It looks pretty neat, but for awhile I'm sure it'll be way overhyped and not nearly as functional/impressive as people claim. And then over time it'll get to a point where it's actually useful.
But I worry about the amount of car accidents it'll cause -_- you know how stupid can be while driving and with cell already. Imagine what happens when you basically give that same functionality/more to something you wear on your eyee.
Err nvm, don't know why I was confusing it with the Occulus Rift. But ya, that does seem interesting. But Google will also definitely start recording even MORE about your life as aMuse claimed. And who says they can't turn it on/record with it without your knowledge? Might be a bit of an overreaction you think, but given what Google already records of you and how much companies don't give two sh*ts about anyone's privacy? ya...
So? Wealth isn't everything. And that doesn't mean they should be allowed to violate our rights. Google's "do no evil" sure is a joke now.
Well, numbers do tell a story. The value of a company is not just the physical assets and bank accounts but the goodwill people put in it. Actually goodwill can add up pretty much to the real physical value of the company and raise the value twofold if not threefold.
Who knows, Google might be supported by the government with their technological advances. Who else can be a stakeholder in a venture like that?
The mission statement and the values could be just PR.
I've seen it before. It's pretty awesome. I wish we had something like that, it could profile someone. Tell you their height, age, DOB, Race, and sexual skills...
whoa whoa whoa.. It could tell you're WHAT? .. you're height?! That is amazing
Psh, who uses them these days anyway.
I've seen it before. Of course I would like to try it. ^_^
LoL people are getting lazy because of these technologies..
That's crazy! Why not? Technology is only becoming more and more integrated into our lives. Might as well jump on board
