Opening lines on the train/public transport...

I take the train to and from work everyday. Here and there I end up next to a cute girl that I'd like to talk to. But the only ice breakers I can think of are "going to work?" or "headed home?" and I'm thinking that neither is really very good (especially since "heading home?" might come off as very creepy).

So any tips on ice breakers? I know making an observation/compliment may be a good way to go, but sometimes there's just very little to comment on. I'd LOVE a generic line I could use on any girl, but is that possible?

I would advise you to try and make a personal statement (compliment, question, whatever). I know it's hard, but if you use a generic line, she'll know and she won't like it. Also, I prefer men to be open about what they want from me when they approach me. I hate being 'forced' into making conversation by, say, somebody asking me for the time if what they actually want to do is ask me out. It's so much harder to be honest/say no to someone you've talked to for a bit, and I prefer to be honest, so I would advise you to be quite direct (as in, let her know you're interested from the start, don't be too generic).

pretending to not be sure where the train is heading could be an icebreaker. You could say "excuse me, is this train heading to ...?" if she said yes, then you can joke by saying "thhat's good, I wouldn't want to get lost in the middle of nowhere like last time" smile or laugh, and then introduce yourself. Something like that.

haha or you could go with something like, "hey, this is the train to Norway, right?" or some equally obscure place just to mess with her... lol

I think that's a choice only you can make. Whether or not I say yes your still gonna do what you want. It depends on how you feel about it and if you can live with it. I mean you can always take it out, but still...
