What kind of mental illness do you think those that get emotionally attached to machinery would have?

Like even if that piece of machinery is kind of broken and a bit damaged to use.

Despite the flaws why would said individual think it's not broken despite the obviousness?

Even looking like going on the verge of tears because the machinery ended up being considered unusable?

PS the individual paid around $50-$100 for the machinery and only had it for 12 months.

It's not the machinery, it's the psychological attraction of being able to fix something. Also I remember when my grandma bought me a dress that was too small for me and my cousin wanted to wear it, I wouldn't let her have the dress because it had sentimental value since it was purchased by somebody that I never see. (She was in China and I was here in Canada)

Sounds like it would likely be some sort of disassociative identity disorder. However, upon googling it I found that 'object sexuality' is a real fetish that is on it's way to becoming a new sexual orientation rather than disorder, with further studies.

Maybe they're just really broke and can't afford to replace it. That might make me cry. Your story is a bit too vague to pinpoint any kind of mental illness that might cause that reaction.

Nope I doubt the individual is broke because of being a manager of a company and living in a middle class suburb.
