Benefits for using gloves for a certain workout ex: bench pressing/ deadlifts/ chinups etc .
As well as the cons for using gloves.
I feel like kind of clown wearing them. Screams "hey, check me out, I'm a wannabe bodybuilder and I want everyone to know it!" But sadly, I gotta use them for some stuff. It does help with my grip on any barbell or dumbbell exercises. Plus, I get wicked bad calluses on my palms, and they peel and get scratchy, which I wouldn't care about, but anytime I put my hands on my girlfriend she's like "ewww, your calluses are gross and scratching me." So I wear them for her benefit. I never wear them for machines or body weight exercises though. Saw a guy wearing them the other day and he was doing leg exercise, haha. Clean it up, bro, you look like a fool, haha.
Oh, forgot to mention, my gloves have wrist wraps on them, which I need for the bench. Something about my left wrist is off, like I grip the bar different than with my right, and when I bench press/dumbbell press I sometimes tear the tendon on the top of hand/wrist because my hand bends back differently and can't take the weight, then I can't work out for like a month. Rather look like a jackass than be injured and out of the gym altogether.
The wrist wraps can immobilize my wrist and prevent that. Also, no chalk allowed at my gym
:-/
I now use gloves when maxing out on deadlifts or WODs that have a lot of pull ups or bar work. I was literally tearing pieces of my hand off every other week before. They help. I don't like them for full ups, full cleans or gymastic rings as it limits my mobility/feel and stick to powder and some light wrap.
Depends on if your using a bar or heavy weights. I don't use them and it doesn't seem to matter to me.

I used to use gloves when I first started lifting, because they help you learn how to grip. I think all new lifters should use them.
However, since I've been getting swole for a couple years now, I don't use them at all anymore. There's no point. I occasionally use chalk on shitty old barbells, but I usually just go at it without any hand grips.
I use to not, but now I do for certain exercises. Deadlifts i use gloves, I mainly use it for pullups, maybe bench here and there. When doing pullups I feel like I can get more reps in. Because before i used gloves, i would have to stop short because my hands would give out before my biceps/shoulder did. So I just use gloves to protect my hands and get more out of my pullups. If your doing heavy weights, your going to need gloves at some point, or chalk. It protects your hands too.
Yes if your a girl, no if your a guy. I've heard girls tell my friends who do wear gloves that they like them to have rough calluses on their hands. I don't because I just don't wanna buy them
I'd say just use chalk instead of gloves unless you want soft hands. As for the straps, I wouldn't because without straps you'll build up your grip strength and forearms
Wait, these chicks want dudes to have calluses? My girlfriend HATES it. I don't know what's up with my forearms either, bad genetics I guess. I have pretty big upper arms, but no matter what I do, my forearms stay skinny. Been working the shit out of them for like 15 years to no avail, same with my calves. Thanks, DNA.
dead lifts with high weight get my forearms pumped. and is preference with girls. some see soft hands as being girly some see as that theyd want their guy to have soft hands
Yup, done plenty of those, more for my lower back. These things just ain't going to grow for me. I can't let my biceps and triceps get too big or I look like reverse Popeye, haha. You can only go as far as nature will take you, I guess.
Haha! I know what you mean bud! I can make all the other muscles grow but these and i look deformed if i Gros my biceps and triceps
I tried some when I was lifting a lot. Hated them never felt like I had a good grip on the bar. If you are someone with delicate hands and or has a girlfriend who likes holding hands I would probably use gloves if it didn't bother you too much.
I do use gloves because the machines rip my skin sometimes. I have my own gym in my basement, but if I used a public gym then wearing gloves would also be great because hundreds of people touch those machines. I don't want to get sick.
I don't use gloves, but I do use wrist straps. It helps me put more focus on one body part while taking away focus on another body part (wrist and forearm)
I use gloves during my weight training because if you don't wear them during your weight lifting, it'll make your palm skin very hard and forms scab like thickening on your palms.
I don't wear gloves ever, even though I have a pair. I just prefer to go in with less items and calluses don't bother me.
I don't use them, my hands grip the weight better and gloves can stink
Gloves are for pussies
