Is bread really bad for losing weight?

So recently I've been hearing a lot about bread making you fat and bloated and stuff. . . and really any grain products. Is this true? I want to lose about 7 pounds. Should I cut bread products out of my diet? I always eat whole grain/whole wheat bread when I can. But aside from that I like to eat stuff like the GoLean cereal and crackers and plain oatmeal. Crackers are really nice for when I want to snack on something but don't want to eat junk food.
So are all forms of bread products something I should cut out of my diet if I want to lose some weight?

Wow, tons of different opinions on this. I can't help thinking bread can't be that bad--humans have lived off of it for centuries.
