For the record, I think anyone, regardless of gender, can enjoy whatever hobby suits them. I am just interested to see if anyone can come up with a hobby that is for one gender only.
The curiosity is because we have a neighbor with a young girl that is into something that is typically seen as a guy "thing" or hobby.

I see how one can claim that some hobbies are not but I also think that most of the time that we are being so specific it is more due to our dumb society standards and that influence then it is to the hobbies themselves being specific. Like cars and mechanics. I know a few girls who are in to mechanics and it is because that was a thing their dad was in to and they just became better at it then most guys do to their mind and their dads influence in their lives. Mechanics is often seen as a man’s job and a man’s world. But the girls who are good at it are always better, cleaner, and way cuter then any guy who has ever tried…
I also think that it depends on your view of hobbies… I mean peeing one’s name in the snow is definitely a thing guys get in to and not all are but those that are get really in to it and some are better at cursive with their thing then they are with their hands. I’m quite certain no girl can pee her name in the snow…

I mean I have NO doubt that there are girls who have figured it out and there are for sure ways like the peewee cup or whatever it’s called but but as for just hopping out of the car and peeing in the snow I don’t know any girl who can… I’m just not practiced enough to write anything with it…

They are neutral. There are stereotypical gender norms assigned to them, but those can easily be wholly ignored. Most of my hobbies are stereotyped as male only, like hunting or bushcrafting. But I know for example @LordOfThePines collects funko pops, normally done by women.

Different hobbies will always attract one sex more than another even if there's no clear reason why. I think a lot has to do with the social side of the hobby. There's no reason why a man can't take up knitting but he might feel out of place among little old ladies.

Hobbies are gender neutral -- we humans are the ones who have perceptions about them and assign genders to them. Then judgement gets meted out so when a boy wants to crochet or a girl wants to paint Army figures ridicule follows and those kids take that lesson to adulthood and replicate the cycle.
That is the problem. Just let those that like something be, no matter the gender. Sad when someone loses interest in a passion because or ridicule and taught it is "not normal". Thanks for the opinion.
I always get leery when someone says something should be something. Like there is an authoritative weight behind it. Maybe hobbies are gender-neutral, maybe they are not. I can't think of any that are not gender neutral, but I'm not willing to close the door necessarily. However, there should be no one who has an authority or power to force their perspective on this on other people. Unless somehow morality came into play, which I can't see either.
Just curious as to whether someone thought of one that is really for one gender only. Just something that crossed my mind because of our little neighbor girl that gets made fun of by other kids (on occasion) for playing with tools and stuff, which is typically more male dominated type of thing.

I've got nothing. I can't think of a hobby that I do or my husband does. It is exclusive to one gender. Cycling, rock, climbing, sewing, wood working, gardening, hunting etc. We all know people both sexes that participate in his hobbies.

Just like @Agape93 said, they are neutral. People just assigned arbitrary roles to them. For example, I love video games. In recent years, you see a lot more women playing them, but for the longest time it was a strictly men dominated hobby.
I have just learned that writing with pee in snow is a hobby if you look around the opinions. That might be a winner for one gender only. 😐

Hobbies and interests themselves I think are gender neutral, but different hobbies tend to attract more of one gender than the other. Some of my interests are more identifiable with guys, but nobody thinks a thing about women participating. I think age (as well ability to afford) is more a factor with some hobbies than gender.
There are plenty of female shooters that score better than me. Professional shooting sports are really opening up to women in ways not imaginable even a few short decades ago. I'm not a professional I'm an amateur on a much smaller budget than some people at the range I go to. I would also MUCH RATHER work with female customers than most male customers at the gun store where I work part time.

Similarly to what a child prefers to be their favourite colour, hobbies should also be gender neutral. I see it helpful for a child to have more options of having a creative outlet or even a choice of career in the future.

In India typically hobbies are seen as gender specific. But in my home I had liberty to persue all kinds of hobbies and toys. Even to this day. I live alone and do house chores that were seens as womenly. But rather are life skills.

Meaning no matter the gender, no one should be ridiculed for what they like to do. Too many (usually younger) boys and girls might have a hobby that is predominantly for the opposite gender.
I have seen it before when a child or young adult gets made fun of because the girl is interested in a hobby where it is mostly guys or a boy that likes something mostly girls are into. That is what I mean.
