Sometimes the rain can be so peaceful, I feel the same way about snow. The rain is invigorating and the snow quiets the environment around you. Definitely been on plenty of backpacking trips where we had a day or two of rain. I've ridden my bike in every possible weather event (well, not a tornado or a hurricane.)
I have been on so many way out bike rides, and you really have no choice but to endure and put the proper gear on or find shelter. I tend to put on the proper gear. I remember stopping beneath the overpass once, because the hail was starting to hurt.
Now I said yes, but any good hiker knows and is aware of the dangers that weather brings. So as long as you know your limits and are prepared for it, then yes... it's amazing fun. But taking risks for the shake of risk taking is more dangerous than not planning for it and being prepared for it.
Definitely pack some dry cloths in a water prove bad... hypothermia is the real risk; all depends on how far out you are going and what your exposure will be. Dry tinder and lighter fluid are a well advised in case you get stuck... and tree fall is real risk that most do not think of.
As far as a tree falling on me? I’ll chalk that up to divine intervention and hope it crushes my skull and not just my legs 😝. I’ve seen and heard many crash over
No way, a good way to get zapped ⚡ and a good way to not hear something like a predator or foe, or anything for that matter, coming among all the wind and chaos and noise and lightning and booms. Lol. No thanks 👍 I'd seek shelter or stay in shelter.
Especially the real world horror stories out there. An incoming storm, suddenly usually, and the trouble or bad luck it brings. Two people got eaten by a bear like that in a "supposed" surprise attack , scary scary in the wilderness like that second photo. Anyways 🐻 as a storm rolled in. Scary and spooky 😱🫣
