Why society impose such a straightjacket instead of simply doing what we like, no matter what it is, as long as it remains legal?
Obviously don’t do anything illegal but for the most part I don’t think it matters so much what other peoples age limits for things are. Do the things you enjoy and live your life to your fullest. Should you pick up skateboarding at 90 and try to do crazy tricks? Probably not. You’ll hurt yourself, but if you want to play video games or start cosplaying go for it
Because certain activities are inappropriate for a developing brain and we don’t need more drug addicts, alcoholics, rapists, serial killers or brain-dead husks than we already have.
Agreed, I still play video games, watch animated series, and collect action figures and model kits.
Anyone who has a problem with it can cope.
It's a very poor proxy for maturity or resources of ones own. But it's objective so it's "fair". What would you suggest?

Age limits are designed to minimize problematic behaviours and they are not a perfect standard that can accurately measure all people because people in society mature at different ages and in different ways. But sometimes we need imperfect rules cause perfect rules cost too much money to enforce.
I collect rocks and I play games and I still plate my food so that none of it touches. I'll never stop.
Even many of the laws are arbitrary. Remember that our justice system isn’t really about what’s right or wrong, it’s about control.
