Anyone else think it's dumb that in Pool you can't play off the sides or another players ball?

Especially considering that often the balls end up in such a spot that it's impossible to get a clear shot. Why should a player be penalized for something that's out of their control?

I started playing a Pool game on my phone and some of the rules are so dumb and annoying.

It's a good rule. Setting up your own shots, and blocking the shots of your opponent are major parts of pool strategy.

Pool is entirely about physics.

You can play by any rules you want though. Very few people play by official competition rules. Very few even know what they are. I think most pool players would be surprised by some of the high level competition rules.

As long as you and the other person agree to the rules, anything goes.
