Apparently this is actually a thing people partake in. they all love reading and they get together and read silently. And after some allotted time has passed you all talk about what you read. what you learned and such.

but now that I see it in this context. I agree with it and support it.

I think the thing about it is that it can really suit introverts a bit better than parties. But it’s 50/50 hit or miss. Some probably prefer to wallflower it / blend in at the larger gatherings; etc.

There should be more activities like this but better suited for introverts. We’ve seen online when people have said things like: “that person who gets you and you both don’t have to say anything to know what the other meant/is thinking.”

And “just want a person can sit in silence with and it be okay.”

Etc. Etc.

Not only would activities more geared for introverts possibly be helpful and allow more fun for those who just don’t want to be loud or feel as if they were self advertising, but it could also be therapeutic for extroverts who needed a slower pace or so on some day of the week. It really just depends, but I think it’s a great start. It shouldn’t be two extremes. Be loud to make friends / put yourself out there OR die alone. But I suppose people find their niches and things. Like attending libraries. So there’s various ways to carry out this concept. I just hope there’s more structured to be social or a purposeful gathering and being united with others like this “silent party.”

Seems kinda cool. And who knows. Maybe even the rates of people who try alcohol just to numb the anxiety would go down thanks to having literal options like this. Never know! 🤷‍♀️ 😁👍

OMG thats a great Idea. Only one condition, every hour or so we get up make coffee and tea while talking about our books. Wait thats called a bookclub, I think.

Well, while I like the theory here, because it's a very funny invitation, I don't think I'm going to like the practice... Mostly because the scene feels forced to me, forced activity, forced reading. For this reason, it can't be a party I can enjoy, so I'll pass. But I praise the idea, it's lovely for what it is :)
