My town is having one with a live band on the 17th. It's $15 per person or $100 for a table of 8 people. It's bring your own Hours d' oeuvres (appetizers) and treats, but they provide dinner. But it's at a rec center, so no alcohol, and it's people 30+ only. It's also semi-formal, so no jeans or gym attire. To me, I don't think it's personally worth the effort. It sounds fun on paper, but I've never really been the type for fancy parties except when I went to a friend's Sweet 16 in High School.
Actually who knows you never know who you might meet they just might be that one person who goes to that event and hopes to meet somebody. Lol 😆
I personally would ask around see who's gone to it and see what they think before I pass judgment. $15 dinner isn't all that bad especially since you get music with it and dancing. If alcohol really is all that necessary I would have a glass of wine before I attend or just have a small mini bottle available in my car if it really helps to loosen you up one thing of beer while in your car and there you go but again I wouldn't really care to go to the party all tipsy just loose.
I don't mind the idea of bringing my own snacks because half the time with my keto diet they never have anything for me to eat so the fact that they would allow me to bring my own snacks is that your Plus for me I hate when they have policies that we can't bring in any outdoor foods because that leaves me with basically only a salad to eat if I'm lucky. And unlucky would be nothing to eat all night long and that would suck.
Regardless at least it's 30 years and up I mean you're not going to be running into babies or teens so at least it would be people of your own age but it can't be all that bad.

I agree, if you have to bring anything, there should be no admission price. Sounds tacky over fancy, tbh.
I went to one at my former place of employment. My boss strongly suggested that I attend. The had a orchestra and all kinds of food an open bar. It was pretty impre.
Poorly implemented. I don't bring my own food or drink to parties and I would ever ask others to.
