Are there any old movies you regret not seeing on the big screen?

A recently restored cinema is re showing Jaws at the original entry price of 61p (about 80 cents) for a day. It's got me thinking, we've got access to movies at home these days but are there any old ones you regret not seeing on the big screen years ago?

“Jaws” is 50 this year, and it’s the original “blockbuster”. A lot of theaters are bringing it back for the anniversary. None near me are offering 1975 pricing though. It might be cheaper to fly to the UK and watch it there. Can you recommend a nice little bed and breakfast? 😂😂😂

Last year i saw “Alien” in the theater for its 45-year anniversary. That’s such a great movie! Nearly half a century old and it holds up in every way. Except the jump scares. I’ve seen it too many times for those to work on me now.
I saw it in the theater back in the day, but i’d go see “E. T. the Extraterrestrial” if it came back to theaters. I saw “Goonies” in the theater for a quote-along showing. I’d like to see that without the crowd interaction. Same with “The Princess Bride”. I’d go to the theater for “Labyrinth” or any of the Muppets movies.
Mostly movies from my childhood, i guess. When we were too poor to go to the theater for movies. I always had to wait until they came out on video. “Star Wars”, the original trilogy, would be fun to see in the theater. I would definitely make a special trip for “A Christmas Story” in a theater. That’s my favorite Christmas movie of all time.

I would pay to see Forbidden Planet in a theater, especially with its remixed and remastered soundtrack. It's one of the best SciFi movies ever made, but it came out in 1956, so I obviously didn't get to see it in the theater and didn't discover it until the 90s, on VHS.

It was Leslie Nelson's first major role - he played the captain - though you may know him better for the end of his career doing comedies like Airplane! and Police Squad/The Naked Gun. It was also the introduction of Robby the Robot, who would eventually appear in several unrelated films. .

there are a lot of theaters with huge screens in LA and New York that will show old movies sometimes and i go whenever i can and there's always a sell-out crowd, people really love this. i got to see Airplane one time and the whole audience was yelling out all the lines

Movie theaters in our area regularly show old movies on the big screen, typically on Sundays.

I've seen The Wizard of Oz many times on TV, originally on a 10-inch screen and more recently on on 50-inch diagonal screen. It would be interesting to see it on the big screen.

Oh yeah, it's being shown on The Sphere in Las Vegas, remastered and AI-enhanced to fit the big round ball. That must be some experience.

Some cinemas have been reshowing “old” movies, possibly due to lack of interest in newer releases and still recovering from lockdowns, it’s nice for the younger generation to experience Spider-Man movies, Batman movies, Star Wars movies, Terminator movies, original Jurassic Park and other originals (Grease). Would be nice if they did the old Star Trek ones again too. The cinema experience is great (well except for noisy and messy people).

What's your definition of an old movie? I wish I'd seen Schindler's List on the big screen. I'd have liked to experience Harold Lloyd in the cinema as well.

True Grit (1969) was before I was born and I'm sorry The Duke hasn't had a cinematic re release. Same with The Big Country and the Steve McQueen version of The Magnificent Seven.

Pretty much all horror films that I was young/not allowed to or not born yet for.

Especially Scream I wish I'd seen the entire franchise in Cinema it was made for that and yup even the 3rd one it don't even really matter if they're bad longs if Ghostface gets to do his thing on big screen I'm happy.

Nope.. The Prince Charles Cinema specializes in showing cult classics and older blockbusters in 35mm and 70mm, and does movie marathons, showing the Lord of the Rings Extended Edition movies, Star Wars trilogies etc. back to back.
