Why are there so few long lasting girl bands?

I decided to waste much of this Saturday listening to music from the past and just chill and got to thinking that I cannot for the life of me think of any girl bands (Corrs was a family and there was a brother involved) that have passed the test of time. Girls Aloud, Destiny's Child, Bananarama, the Original girl band Spice Girls and it was Pussycat dolls track that brought this up since I don't think any of those bands still perform together.

When compared to bands like Aerosmith, Def Leppard, ZZ Top and Europe all stuck around for decades and some are still putting it out there are live performances.
