Do you think Phil Collins is underrated? Are any of you fans?

I'm working out of town and stopped at an establishment for dinner and they had a Phil Collins cover band. I rarely hear his name mentioned as a "legend" in music, like Elton John, or Michael Jackson, maybe Neil Diamond but every song I heard was a classic!(Especially for my age) I talked to an older guy next to me and he said Phil, along with Michael Jackson, OWNED the 80's in music. I guess, combined, they had 20 #1's and spent OVER EIGHTY WEEKS at number one with their respective songs during the 80's. I looked it up, because I was interested.

Are any of you fans of Phil Collins? Do you think he doesn't get enough recognition?

Thank you, my Canadian friend. That was one of the songs I remembered, a long with, Take Me Home, Against All Odds, One More Night and You'll Be In My Heart. Truly underappreciated for the hits he recorded.

Haha yes , I will be up and getting ready to yell at the TV. I don't drink but some of the bars downtown are allowed to serve alcohol starting at 6am. Win or lose it's going to be crazy 🇨🇦

not only my father liked some of it... but I once met someone who was really into Genesis and everyone else in, and related with that band, lmao...

as for underrated or overrated... I don't like at music that way, I just like what I like and enjoy what I enjoy, regardless... lol

Phil Collins is like that game you loved as a kid, but nobody talks about anymore 🎧
I’m a fan for sure. His 80s hits are everywhere, even if people don’t always realize it’s him. In games, shows, and movies, his songs pop up and still feel powerful. I think he’s underrated compared to icons like MJ or Elton, but his drum style, emotional vocals, and Genesis work make him absolutely legendary in my book 💿

Goddamn! Frank Sinatra is a good pick lol Bob Dylan was respected but not really a hit maker. I was thinking Marty Robbins and Johnny Horton, only because they were tearing up the billboard charts but died at their prime. Elvis's career was pretty much over when he passed away. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan but he had nothing left to give. When Robbins and Horton died, the music world was in absolute shock!

Elvis was around for many years and was making a comeback when he died. I thought he was old when he died , he was 42. Now there are guys in their 80s still touring.

He was, without a doubt, a novelty act, like the Rolling Stones, Arrowsmith, and the Eagles but he was no longer commercially successful. He became a Vegas act.
