Which game consoles have you owned since childhood and why?

Oh man, I go back a ways.

Arcades (Space invaders, Frogger, side scrolling shooters, etc.)
Atari
Sega Genesis
Nintendo
Nintendo Wii
Xbox (various generations)
Play Station (various generations)
PC based games throughout that entire timeline

I've always been a sucker for fun tech. I started buying video games before I had kids. Once my sons were born I bought them every generation of every platform until they were probably in high school at which point they took over the video game activity.

At some point in time I was busy with my career and paying for their educations and I drifted away from video games while my sons advanced to a level of play that left me in the dust. My youngest son still makes me play Halo with him once in a while just so he can laugh at my game play in 3D first person shooters. 🤣

My oldest son is now the art director for a game studio in LA controlling the look and feel of the games they produce.

It's been fun watching the evolution of the gaming industry from its infancy to a major form of entertainment.

Nintendo Famicom, nothing else. If handheld, I do own DS, 3DS and PSP (R4 for DS and the last two modded with hundreds of games on, obviously). That's it.

As strange as it may sound to you, I never used any gaming consoles or any other computer games. At home, we used to play regular social card or board games but never anything electronic. I always thought that spending time on those consoles were a total waste of time.

I much preferred to play outside. I was more of a tomboy than a girlie and spent my time in the forest building treehouses with the boys rather than to spend my afternoons and evenings behind a monitor or screen.

I am thankful to my parents that they were the ones allowing me to spend time doing something constructive rather than wasting it gaming.

we had "the Nintendo"  a Dreamcast, and the first two Xbox after that... only my brother kept buying every Xbox that has come out since and other stuff here and there too

Wii, Nintendo Switch, Playstation

Why? Wii was the most affordable option and seemed like the best bang for your buck at the time when my family decided to purchase. Switch was, for friends coming to the house and taking the fun on the go lol.
Playstation was strictly home use, and those controllers were comfortable for playing the games of the era.

I had a Gameboy, a Nintendo DS lite, a Wii, a PS1, couple of PS2s (3 if I count the broken one I have), a PS4, a few Xbox 360s, Xbox One and currently a Series X personally

When I was in kindergarten I remember having this console I think it was called Mega Drive. Then in '96 my Dad got a Sega Saturn. Years later he got us a PS2 and now me and my Partner have a PS5.

I owned PS 4 once because it provides better performance than pc does had many games digital games on its hards disk but had to sell it 😔

Some old Taiwanese console, can't remember the name, then I had Nintendo, Super Nintendo, and Playstation (PS, PS2, PS3). Currently, I mostly play on PS4, but I also have a laptop specialized for PC games.
