To be honest I've just sold a car that I had for over 10+ years yesterday.
Tore me to pieces inside. If I had to keep it until it dies, I think I'd be even more devastated.
Not sure if I'll ever keep a car for so long anymore.
I always buy full sized American made SUVs or pickup trucks and keep them for over 200K miles. I usually sell them myself because the car dealership does not want to give me anything for a trade.
I had my last for 13 years until it died and that's what I plan to do with my current one too. I don't see a need for an upgrade every 3 years.

I get a new (all expenses paid) company car every two years.
