Because they find speculating on event tickets more profitable and less work. It's up to the ticket sellers to prevent scalping, but it's not easy when selling tickets online.

If you are talking about prices at first release, it´s the same. Goods are offered at less than the market-clearing price and people (scalpers) see an arbitrage opportunity -- to buy below market and sell at the higher market price.

There are no scalpers anymore, only licensed brokers who are endorsed by the record companies. There haven't been scalpers for over 30 years now.

maybe nowadays is more expensive but you have to be careful because they scan the tickets now when you walk in so they could be duplicate tickets
