Celebrating Christmas: The Bad & The Good 🎄

Anonymous

Since it's almost Christmas I decided to do a Christmas themed Mytake. Christmas is a very cheerful and beautiful time of the year. It's one of the best ways to end the year. Although Christmas is fun, it has it's good sides and it's bad side. Christmas has it's pros and cons.

Let's start with the bad side of Christmas.

1. Money

By the end of December, most of the money has been spent on food, decorations, possibly a new tree and presents (also let's take a moment to pray for those who have a relative with a birthday in December). Most of the things being sold aren't on special (even if they are...it's not the best special) until after Christmas and you can't really go shopping for Christmas presents earlier in the year. So congrats Christmas, I have no money.

2. Family

This can be viewed differently by people. It's either you don't get to see your family and you want to or you're stuck with a whole bunch of family members you don't know. Family can be a con. (ps. there is always that ONE annoying kid cousin).

3. Last minute shopping

This is never a good idea but some of us can't help it. The procastination level is real. And of course you're gonna get to the mall (or shopping centre) and gonna have a hassle finding a parking. Then spend hours in the place tryna find presents. So here's a hint. Don't go last minute shopping.

4. Buying Presents

Now you're at the shops. And you have literally the hardest time thinking of the present. If you get someone something too expensive, you might get a cheap gift but if you get something cheap, the gift they give you might be better than yours and that would be utterly shameful. Oh and don't get me started on those friends that didn't get you anything and they make a stupid excuse like they got the gift but they forgot it in in their neighbor's fiancee's best friend's girlfriend's car.

5. Who to buy a present for

There are usually people you know you're gonna buy a gift for. But there are those random times when a friend could buy you something and you didn't get them anything. Or you're out Christmas shopping and don't know if you should buy a particular friend a present because you're unsure if they'd get one for you. This whole thing can throw off the complete structure of your friendship.

6. Christmas music

It can sometimes be a bit much. (Can someone relate with me. I always sing Christmas songs in the middle of the year and when it's Christmas I can't bother with them).

7. Socks

Need I say more. And some of you don't pretend you like the socks you get from a relative. Just be real with me. Who ever thought socks would ever be a good Christmas gift?

8. The new 'family member'

When your sibling or cousin bring their new boyfriend to your house for Christmas. This can usually end up being very awkward. Or you can be the one that brings your new partner. Let's play a game of who can be more awkward. Your partner or your family.

9. The fear of gaining weight

After all the food you will fear the consenquences. But nothing is worse than the consenquences actually happening.

Now that we've identified some of the worst parts of Christmas. Let's go to all that cheery stuff that Christmas is about.

1. Time off work/school

Look, I get some people don't get time off but when you do it's amazing. And even if you don't...don't people get paid more for working on Christmas.

2. Christmas parties

These can be fun :)

3. Good presents

Occasionally you could be genuinely surprised when receiving gifts. You could get something you've always wanted or something at least you wouldn't mind getting.

4. Food

Christmas food is generally good. Christmas is the time of year when you basically tell your diet to β€œFrick off” and the one time of the year you definitely can't resist the diet.

5. Family

Sometimes the company of family is what we need around this time of the year. Family can sometimes make things fun and you'll feel at home.

6. Decorating the house

It gives the house Christmas vibes and it's usually fun with someone you can enjoy it with loud music, some dance moves and singing.

7. Boxing day sales

Everything is pretty much on special. The only pretty much negative to boxing day sales is that everyone goes to them, therefore it's crowded.Everything is pretty much on special. The only pretty much negative to boxing day sales is that everyone goes to them, therefore it's crowded.

8. Christmas movies

Christmas movies are a huge part of the season and there are so many to choose from. There are so many classics such as "Home Alone," "A Charlie Brown Christmas," and "Elf."

9. Christmas light

There are usually a few houses decorated beautifully (and might i add some over the toply) with Christmas light. They are so interesting to look at and are just beautiful in the dark night sky.
