I decided to do two mytakes and this one involving specifically Christmas specials. And yes there is Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, how the grinch stole Christmas and a charlie brown Christmas special. I do love all of those but here are a few that I picked out for there random flavor in hopes people might not have heard of them before. and here is a random mytake I did in the past relating to this
Let's do this, ok starting with..
10. So Weird: Fountain (1999)
Ok so this is a fun one that you can also find on disney plus. It is a so weird episode where the main character tries to get into the Christmas spirit and gets a little bitter when things don't go her way. Only to find that a wish she makes sends her back in time and she keeps getting younger and she can't stop. It is fun and heartwarming to watch. Kind of like a time traveling Christmas where you go back to your same age instead of staying the same age.
9. Tales from the Darkside: Seasons of Belief (1986)
This one is another one of those scary Christmas episodes talking about a character basically like krampus and it is fun to hear the tale unfold until it's shocking conclusion.
8. The Berenstain Bears' Christmas Tree (1979/NBC)
So I want to state that this was on NBC like the charlie brown special was. This while it seems should be filed under the kids section, it can be fun for both kids and adults to watch. I remember having a fondness of this as a kid and still have a fondness of watching to this day. I guess it brings back childhood memories and it was made in the 1970's so vintage :)
7. The Bear Who Slept Through Christmas (1973/NBC)
This was another special that was aired on NBC and thought it would work perfectly next to the bears simply because both were aired on NBC, both had the same advertisement and both well both feature bears in them. I personally love the adult humor in the beginning and the soft kids heartwarming ending at the end. It is a true gem.
6. Tales from the Crypt: And All Through the House (1989)
So this is a very campy one. What happens when you kill your husband then just as your celebrating that your deadbrained husband is finally dead, you kiss your daughter to bed and try to cover the scene of the crime only to find that a demented santa claus is trying to kill you as your covering up the scene of the crime, sounds like a bad Christmas night to me :)
5. Beavis and Butt-Head Do Christmas 1995. Season 6 Episode 7
I don't know what I like about these guys... Maybe its the fact that they are so delightfully prideful and stupid at the same time :) or the fact that they have literally no clue about outside world. They are two clueless boys :) either way, their humor makes me laugh out loud the way that michael scotts does in the office, awkward, that's what she said, stupid humor. Either way, Christmas with beavis and butthead is classic and the episodes are fun and enjoyable including their version of its a wonderful life.
4. Married with Children S4, Episodes 11 & 12: "It's a Bundyful Life" (December 17, 1989)
Going off ranchy humor into another version of it's a wonderful life, here is the married with children take on that. and it is simply slapstick stupid humor but I love it. If anyone thinks that married with children is a classic, this is a perfect Christmas episode for them.
3. Sabrina the Teenage Witch S2E12: "Sabrina Claus" (December 19, 1997)
If I remember right, this the plot where sabrina becomes spoiled and needs to help santa claus in order to help find her balance again. It is a fun holiday themed episode. That is fun to watch and there is actally a dvd that has all the sabrina Christmas specials on it too.
2. Batman: The Animated Series: Christmas With The Joker (1992)
This is simply a fun episode where the Joker hosts his own Christmas special and invites batman and robin to join him hee hee hee. It is a classic series and it's Christmas themed episode does not disappoint.
1. The Simpsons S1E1: "Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire" (December 17, 1989)
This last one is a Christmas classic to me. The first ever simpsons episode to me is the most memorable out of the bunch simply because it is a true holiday special in and of itself. It is the perfect simpsons Christmas episode as it sums up the heartwarming nature and comedy we all know and love. With a holiday greeting card at the end.
Ok that's it for me tonight, have a great Christmas and happy holidays from JJ
