JJ's Christmas Movie Picks

Jjpayne

One or two gaggers asked me for a Christmas version of the Halloween thing that I did. While that did not turn out to be nearly as awesome as I thought It was going to be, I decided to make some interesting selections that could be considered more niche selections for Christmas movies to watch. Now this is not saying that I don't love Christmas Vacation, the polar express, home alone, how the grinch stole Christmas and the santa clause, because I do love all those and more, I just wanted to highlight some random stuff for fun. And I made sure I did not post a Christmas picks yet either, but I did post a random Christmas movie highlight

A Christmas Movie Extravaganza

But let's get this party started. For my random assorted picks lets start with

10. Anna and the Apocalypse (2017)

This is simply just a fun movie to watch. It is a movie that clearly does not take itself seriously and is just a fun spoof of zombie movies and of Christmas. I have posted this in lists before and even did a question about it. I just think it's funny and fun to watch, especially if you are looking for something campy for Christmas.

9. If You Believe (1999)

This is fun hearting movie that features a young Hayden Panettiere and it's simply about a bitter woman that has lost the meaning of Christmas and her younger self comes back from the past to bring her back to her senses. I think its kind of like a twist on the Christmas carol if you will.

8. A Christmas Movie Christmas (2019)

So I absolutely love this concept! With all the Hallmark Rom Com's that are out there, this one takes a fresh approach. What happens if you got trapped inside a Hallmark Christmas Movie and have the freewill and knowledge of former Christmas movies to control it. Sure it pretty much goes the same way but it sure is fun to have self aware characters and being able to poke some at the Christmas romance genre.

7. Jack Frost (the horror version) (1997)

Here is another campy one for you. What happens when toxic waste, snow and a murderer on death row all get mixed together. You get the evil version of Jack Frost. This is a pretty normal horror movie with even a sex scene only it has the adorable frosty out on a killing spree. It is pretty fun for those that like scary movies and a fun one for a campy Christmas viewing.

6. All I Want for Christmas (1991)

This is a fun movie that I remember from when I was a younger age. Its basically about a boy and girl that want to get their parents back together after a divorce with some very funny consequences. It is a heartwarming movie that really reminds you about the importance of family.

5. The Ref (1994)

This is just a delightfully hilarious movie about a kidnapping and robbery gone wrong with two people bickering like cats and dogs all the way through annoying dennis leary. It sounds terrible but it is so funny and be advised this is adult content, swearing and strong sexual humor is in this movie.

4. Ernest saves Christmas (1988)

This is simply a heartwarming slapstick movie. It is all about the slapstick. Just goofy fun. Basically Ernest works as a taxi driver and ends up getting tangled up with santa claus and winds up helping him for Christmas.

3. Scrooge (musical) (1970)

This has got to be one of best Christmas musicals I have seen. The energy and music lyrics/scores are all on point. The acting easily matches any other Christmas carol movie but this one has music. It is simply a delight to watch and for those like Christmas and musicals, it is a perfect fit.

2. Santa Claus: The Movie (1985)

and no, it's not that one. It's one from the 80's. This one if I remember correctly has an elf that came from the north pole get tricked into giving a business man the formula to fly and he puts it into candy canes and turns Christmas upside down. Basically, it involves making a big Christmas mistake with the movie ending on trying to fix it. It is a fun movie in which like the 90's santa clause, reality and the north pole intertwine.

1.Gremlins (1984)

So this last one is a classic but not one that people go to for Christmas but it truly is a Christmas movie that takes place on Christmas. This year was also my birthday, happy birthday JJ :) but it is a fun movie and iconic in its own way and I still think worthy to watch during the Christmas season, right next to die hard :)

Well that's it for my picks, tell me what you think and let me know some of your own.
