I'm just not feeling this year y'all. I feel like the Grinch and I'm okay with it! Yes, I'm a cynical person, most of you already know that. But usually I enjoy the holidays! Christmas has always been my favorite holiday of the year-
Nope, not this year. I'm over it. I'm pretty sure I've said "bah humbug" more times than I care to admit. There were people putting up Christmas decorations back in October! Meanwhile, I barely felt like putting my tree up this year.
Is anyone else just not in the mood this year? Or has Christmas been a source of happiness for anyone?

Yes, it really has been a terrible year. For some more than others. Just remember, the year will be over in ONE more week!!! Here's hoping next year is better for everyone!

You're not alone. I'm here in South Korea, where there was never a lockdown, but every single down (at least here in Seoul) closes at 9pm now, except convivence stores and gas stations. I think this is literally the first time in my entire adult life I've gone a December without hearing any Christmas music. I actually have a small group of Christmas songs on my phone (Kelly Clarkson's "Wrapped in Red") and totally forgot I did until like, two days ago.
Now I'm just thinking if Santa was real, his elves would have made him cancel Christmas this year due to COVID and he'd be all like "But it's Christmas! I haven't canceled in 300 years!" and then Mrs. Claus would be like, "You have to let it go, Nick. Lockdowns are still in effect. How would you even deliver presents, anyway?" and then Santa would get all frowny and slump into his loveseat and sigh. Yup, Christmas is cancelled! Blame China (instead of Trump). I don't have any family, so it doesn't exactly faze me.

... yeah, I know this sounds terrible, but I think this year would have been a great excuse to cancel Christmas. Everyone can just stay at home and reflect on this year, and think about what we can to not screw up 2021.
Aside from maybe department stores, no one is really in the mood for Christmas music. Every town shuts down everything at 9pm, and people are kinda pissed cause it's making a dent in their wallets (stuff is usually open until midnight; because many kids and working adults don't often get off until 10pm). But South Korea is just as capitalst as North America, if not more so.
Black Friday probably wouldn't have even been a thing this year if not for the PlayStation 5 (maybe X-Box Series X/S as well, but nobody really seems to give a damn about it, myself included).
I wasn't but now I am since girlfriend and kids are coming over, yea! I just wish it was more fun bu haven't figure dout how to pull that off.
I got covid and was down 3 weeks, I'm just now starting to function.
Christimas is like a high pressure holiday that feels like it forces us to be joyful and happy, when we really aren't. That's where my grinch comes from. God how ther were times I couldn't stand carolers and such. It's like forced happiness. bah humbug to that.
I've felt grinch before. I find it is oriented towards looking at my own sense of dismay and problems. In the past, I'd find other people who were poor and needed help and gave to them. That's the spirit of Christmas... from St. Nicklaus. Just wear a mask...
I understand hating people, I used to hate and fear people. I wrote a mytake on Jesus which conveys a little of how I changed around. But I still battle the internal grinch at times.
I like having fun. No tree so far... didn't have time to get one and a lot of energy to put up. Just wrapping presents is a lot right now and cleaning the house.
Find someone in need, give a little kid a stuffed bear or something. Crucify that inner grinch... we all got it tucked away somewhere. He's a sour pus!

I usually have a quiet Christmas anyway, but the mood of the whole year is sour. Because of that, just about everything on TV is tiresome, and the joy of being able to go into town and see and hear anything Christmas-ey is gone.
Just have to get through it, scrap 2020, and look ahead to a better year next year.
Yeah, I was already planning on having a quiet Christmas to myself, and happy doing so. But the events and mood of this year just made it hard to really enjoy Christmas.
I know I cannot be the only one that doesn't think it feels like Christmas tomorrow (or today, depending on your location in the world).
I was actually the opposite, I got into the spirit a lot earlier and tried to do a lot more this year. It’s been pretty average, finding something to engage with others in such a positive way felt good.

I'm not. Cooked all day, prepared everything, and my mother and my fiancée are already mildly drunk, chatting with each other and completely ignoring me. What a sh*t Vigil.
Lol, I really should! Eh, I'm really pissed off. I didn't want to do it, yet I still did and spent the day cooking because I care at least a little. And that's the appreciation they give me.
I kinda feel the same way. I usually love the Christmas season with festive decorations and holiday spirit. But much of that has been taken from us this year. The Victorian Christmas celebration in our cute, historic, touristy town was cancelled. I refuse to buy into the covid hysteria by wearing a mask and social distancing, so haven't been to any of the cute local stores. I refuse to participate in consumerism on-line via Amazon. There aren't much in the way of holiday celebrations and gatherings. We can't even go out to dinner at nice restaurants. My wife and I are just spending a quiet Christmas at home watching movies. I wish people would wake up and realize that the existence of flu isn't a reason to stop living and enjoying what it means to be alive. At 66 years old, I've gotten sick before. I wish people would stop believing the vaccine profiteers and their propaganda vehicle, mainstream media. I hope that those who took dictatorial control over our lives are eventually prosecuted for crimes against humanity.
I actually was more this year than last year because of my grandson and he was, and for me Christmas has always been more for the kids to me... He had such a good time so that's all the Christmas I needed... Hope you had a somewhat okay Christmas... Merry Christmas 💜🤗
My Christmas was actually okay considering: I exercised, my mom brought me some delicious food over, and I got some nice gifts. I mean it didn't feel like the usual Christmases, but overall, I really couldn't complain!
Glad you had an okay holiday. But you had to mention exercise lololol props you did, I need to it's been a week or two since I have 🥺 and after all the food from Christmas Eve/Christmas day 😱😱
I had to burn off all those holiday calories!!! So I ran 5 miles AND did weight training.

I am in your camp too. This is the first Christmas after moving out (long story). Hell, I didn't bother with a tree. I didn't bother standing in long covid-infested queues at the shops. I didn't bother getting any presents for anybody, not even my own blood family. I had a Christmas-Eve meal with my family and I was asked not to bring anything. Watched a non-themed movie. They drunk a bottle of wine each (which I don't approve of). Said my good byes and went home. It is 6:00am Christmas morning now, just woke from a twisted dream. Chrismas spirit still hasn't come. Capitalism has hijacked this, and all other celebrations.
The Grinch lives. I loathe Christmas. So many two-digit IQs who are ‘happy’ for no rational reason. Enormous expenditure on useless and often unwanted bullshit, which shows how effectively the herd has been conditioned psychologically by the advertising industry.
Don't even get me started... All of my female coworkers have been spending hundreds on gifts this year, including on us! Which wouldn't be so strange if we actually liked each other. So the gifts seem so... forced and fake. But they did it to make themselves, not ME, feel better about themselves.
It's as if people are spending money and celebrating the holidays because it's required, not because they enjoy the season and meaning behind it.

Yea definitely.. me and my mom were up late talking and wrapping gifts and she knew i just didn't feel it. Christmas was OUR family thing, but my dad passed from Covid so it's been pretty empty this year. I did genuinely enjoy Christmas for the first time last night, but i still don't really feel much for it rn.
This is the first time in my life that Christmas felt like a chore and not like Christmas at all, and that fucking sucks.
Sure, I got to see my parents, my grandparents and brother in law, but my other aunts and uncles and cousins that I saw religiously every year up until this year? It is not the same not seeing them. It is a holiday about family and spending time and giving to your loved ones. Not division.
I feel our family has been divided and shattered because of COVID-19 and political differences and that hurts more than anything. I am angry. I am frustrated and I am hurt that we can't even be a true family anymore because of this bullshit
That’s why you drink alcohol and make it fun lol Christmas was only really exciting when we believed in Santa after that it’s like whatever lol But I have to say my kids made my Christmas fun this year with the gifts they got me , I felt like a little kid again lol so I had a good Christmas , drank good , ate good and enjoyed spending time with my kids
Yesss oh I’m just glad I’m not alone. Everything feels so different this year, Christmas is all about hope but I honestly have lost hope that things will get better. I decorated and all, put in some effort into some type of festive dinner but the spirit hasn’t come yet lol and it’s literally Christmas already so I guess it’s about time to make peace with the fact that it’s just not gonna happen this year. But well Merry Christmas anyway!
I am OK with Christmas this year. Although I can see why a lot of people are not due to the pandemic situation. Christmas the last few years has been very stressful for me due to having a very elderly mom and it is hard seeing her decline with time. But still I am OK with it.
I don't know. I want to be and I'm trying to be, but things are so different this year, it's hard for me to be excited and motivated this holiday season.
I feel that. I bought a gingerbread house this year because I thought it would be fun to do, but I still haven't made it. I've been trying to force myself to do it, but every time I try, I just put it away. I don't have the motivation for it now.
Hopefully next year will be a little better than this year has been. 🤞

I was in that Christmas spirit tbh lol and I was happy to spend a lot of money on everyone’s presents but now I’m a bit down tomorrow I will feel better now also who gets a period on Christmas? Lol
Yeah I'm really not. I'm working right now and am spending the day tomorrow with my ex and his family because I don't want to be alone. And I don't have any money to get anybody presents so im bummed about that.
Yeah, I'm not doing anything this year. This year's Christmas amounted to a 30 minute Skype call with my family for me.
I don't normally celebrate at home, but I do visit my family over the holidays. This year I couldn't even do that, because my country is in lockdown and I've also been in contact with an infected person this week. So I'm the only one left out too.
Definitely dont feel it. Getting older, less gifts, no job to gift people, couldn't see family for Christmas this year, have been arguing with my girlfriend for a few days. Feel like i dont get a break from life in general. Hopefully i wakw up to a new iPhone tomorrow have had the 6s for years now.
I remember for Christmas 2017, I was home by myself. Made dinner for expected guests. I took a very small bite of the Turkey and had to go to the ER. I was admitted and spend 2 nights in the hospital because that small bite got stuck in my throat and I had to have it retrieved.
Ouch! Seriously? What a miserable Christmas indeed. I'm not going to lie, what would have traumatized me a bit into not liking Christmas as much after that

I never am, but this year I'm spending it on my own, so it's just another day. An annoying one where I have to explain often that I'm fine and don't care.
I never am in the Christmas spirit, but this year was worse than ever. I barely put any decorations up, and took them down yesterday. Still feels like March for me!
Even with the decorations & tree up it just didn't feel like Christmas this year.

It happens sometimes especially In the USA. Everyday there’s something going on like parties, events, shows, etc so when it comes to big days like Christmas you don’t feel anything.
