Just how many Santa's are there?

Christmas ornaments like the one shown in the picture are rarely of good quality. Usually they're cheap plastic that. You wouldn't normally have such low quality tacky crap on display so why do we make an exception at Christmas?

I believe we can be more sensitive to the needs of our fellow man, that we can be better neighbours to each other. Sometimes we take to much for granted and we forget to tell each other we care. I think Christmas provides a wonderful opportunity to find friendships and to show our loved ones that they are important to us, that we're happy they are in the world. It's something we should do more often. And the spirit of Christmas is a joyous reminder of our responsibility as people.

Part of it is we like it. But the other part is exactly that: we make an exception and chill a little (literally) at Christmas and lower our standards.

Tacky Christmas stuff is only displayed for a short amount of time. You're right, you'd never display it for a long time. Too tacky... but that's what makes it Christmas.
