Do you like Christmas?

I hate Christmas season. Not to sound like a Scrooge but it’s true lol.

its just too stressful for me. It always come around when you’re financially struggling for your life.
Money is genuinely the only reason I feel this way. If I was rich, I’d love Christmas. But I’m not so lol.

Not only that but I get stressed about the idea of people getting me gifts and not getting them one back. I feel like an asshole. I wish they would stop getting me gifts, truly.

not only that but all my friends birthdays, including my own, are October - January. So I’m also under the stress of getting birthday gifts for everyone on top of that. Or even if I don’t get them a gift, we at least go out to eat or do something that requires money.

And I try to save up for this time of year but for some reason I always have some emergency that I have to take care of.

I wish we could just fast forward to new years once Halloween is over lol. And maybe pause to get a plate at Thanksgiving and that’s it.

Christmas Day yes, Christmas Eve no. No because I usually have to spend time with family that I hate on Christmas Eve, but yes because on Christmas Day I get to spend time with family that I love. Thankfully it won’t be like that this year. I won’t have to spend any time with family that I hate cause they all stopped talking to me after I had my baby 🤭 this might be the first Christmas that I’ll truly enjoy.


Usually on Christmas Day we have a BBQ (start of summer here during Christmas), stuff our faces, then we go for a swim at the beach, and then we open presents.

What I do to reduce cost is I spend the entire year buying Christmas gifts or saving money for future gifts. If you divide December spending into 12 months and buy during special sales or save up 8% each month, it makes Christmas easier. You could also write a post or email in mass saying you don’t want Christmas gifts cause you are saving up for retirement and won’t have money to buy gifts for people who buy you gifts. I also know people who make their own gifts to save costs. An example is, a knitted scarf you make yourself or a baked pie you make yourself, might be cheaper than one you buy yourself. If you own a house, plant an apple tree, then you can make apple leather for friends and family each year instead of buying expensive gifts.

I like the Christmas atmosphere with family and friends. Meeting them when otherwise it's difficult to do so.

I hate the Christmas hype, which is only commercial and seems totally fake. You can buy Christmas presents in September or October. You can order a Christmas tree online any day of the year.

Sure, we could fast forward to New Year once Halloween is over. Only that Halloween would turn into the new Christmas. You'd have Halloween trees and Halloween gifts.

I hate it too. All the prep and food & decorating work and moneyand time for greedy ungrateful coworkers, neighbors or ALWAYS family. Add in a mixed marriage and Hanukah at the same time and it's just hell. I see you. I feel you. 🤗
