Do you like Christmas pantomimes?

A pantomime is a Christmas theatre show for children usually based on a well known fairytale. There's bright costumes, singing, jokes, Men in drag and audience participation. In short they're bloody awful.

I had the misfortune of being dragged to one by the school as a kid and I assure you that Hell no longer holds any fear for me. If you can sit through this shit, you can endure anything.

But some people love them, seeing them as an essential part of Christmas. So where do you stand?

In the country where I live we often have a pantomime about the birth of Jesus. IT is a tradition that children perform in those at school or other cultural organisations. As a child I always liked them, the preparations made Christmas seem more fun. As an adult without children I can't go to one, there simply isn't a reason to do IT.

Yes, and my nephew and niece love them; we take them every year.

Pantomimes are a distinctly British thing. I went to one once while working in London. It was interesting entertainment.

There is nothing similar here in the US.
