I will attend a staff party, what should I wear?

My employer is hosting a Christmas dinner. I will be attending and I was not sure what to wear there is basically no dress code but they said we can dress up if we want. I want to dress up, but nothing crazy. I am very conscious about my body and i want to cover up. My crush will also be in the party any recommendations?

Are you self-conscious about your body because you think your body is unattractive, or because you're worried about guys lusting after you?

Wear a nice dress, but make sure it isn't too form-fitting, and doesn't show too much skin. Cleavage is probably a no-no. Maybe add a cardigan if that would make you less self-conscious.

I think it would be great to get dressed up for a Christmas dinner party and will show your enthusiasm in celebrating the holidays with others. Especially because there might be someone at the party who doesn't have any other plans for Christmas and will be spending the holiday alone.

In these cases, less is more when it comes to dressing up. Unless this is a cocktail party you don’t want to be overdressed. A pair of black or gray leggings with knee high fuzzy boots. The lace up type not uggs. And and an off one shoulder top. Think 80s style mixed with modern fashion. Either an oversized ugly Christmas sweater or a long minidress type shirt that hugs your butt and curves. The one shoulder hanging off shows off some skin so you feel attractive while staying comfortably covered and appropriate for work peers. Be subtle with the makeup. Pick eyes or lips to add color to. Not both. Tip: If you’re self conscious about your weight or body: u can add a little contour (or any darker than skintone powder) to the top and bottom side of your clavicle bone AND on each side of your throat tendons reaching from the bottom of your neck up to each ear. Shade in the middle up and down the sides of your voice box and then on the outside of those neck tendons up to behind your ear. Do the same on the top and underside of the clavicle. This should be subtle so blend. But that will give you the illusion of shadowing causing you to look slightly thinner. Also great for pics.

Girl, I’d say go for a cute midi dress or something simple like high-waisted pants with a nice blouse. You can dress it up without going overboard. Maybe add a blazer or a cute coat if you want some extra coverage. Just wear what makes you feel confident – and you’ll totally shine, especially with your crush there!

Depends on your level of comfort. Consider there may be games and dancing. Also consider how long you'll stay.

This is what I wore to my last company party: loose black knee length skirt, with matching tights and boots and also a white conservativish top (long sleeve; no cleavage) more or less form fitting, and a light pink cardigan.

Any of which you could switch out for something looser fitting according to your comfort level

If you're hot I would say something tasteful yet a slightly form fitting dress. A little skin but not too much. Makeup and jewelry should also be tasteful. It is a company event.

If you're not, pleated trousers, Doc Martens and an oversized Santa sweater, preferably covered in cat hair. Don't waste your time with makeup.

If you dress up for work, going in a similar fashion will not be off. If you have dress in festive style (e. g., red or green dresses), that would work too. Obviously, this is NOT a place to dress nightclubby or to reveal too much skin.

Just wear business casual clothing. Something nice, but still conservative. A pant suit always is a good choice. Or perhaps a nice dress with a blazer? And with this dress, you can either wear tights with heels, or no tights but boots (not heels).
